Graduate Student in Systems Engineering
Boston University
Hi, I'm Owen St. Germain. I'm currently a student working on my Masters degree in Systems Engineering at Boston University. I originally came to Boston for my Mechanical Engineering undergrad back in 2018, but quickly fell in love with the city once I learned more about it. Now, my wife and I happily live in Jamaica Plain with our two cats Spicy and Sesame (who can be seen plotting below). I like to imagine my self as bringing a multi-disciplinary approach to my projects with my Mechanical background and Systems Masters, which helps me stay grounded with some of my wackier ideas. While I'm a pretty detail oriented person, I don't let that get in the way of my progress. The most important thing for me during my work is producing something I'm proud of, so I'm always looking to push the quality of my work to really get that sense of a job well done.
For hobbies, I split my time between painting miniatures, 3D printing projects, playing board games, and taking silly pictures of my cats (which can be provided upon request). I'm happy to talk for hours about my favorite board games, but in general I tend to gravitate to more cooperative games, as I find working as a team more compelling. I think that aspect of my outside life translates pretty directly into my work as well, as I'm very comfortable working on a group with others and I'm always happy to learn something new along the way. Effective communication was one of the main focuses of my college life, and I aim to translate that directly into my day to day working habits.
